Neilson Hays Library

Book Sales 2016

Story by Tom Wuthipol Uj November 13th, 2016

Ever since I graduated from a design school, my love for books and magazines have grown passionately. So if there happens to be a book fair in town, I'll just go. No questions asked.

On the weekend of November 12-13, I decided to whirl by a book sales at Neilson Hays Library, the only English-book library in Bangkok. It was such an incredible sight. The library sets in an old historical building, with a lovely gardens in the front yard. There were many book lovers who came to seek for old gems and classic literature to read. It was such an amazing atmosphere.

After flipping through the pages of these old books, I went ahead and bought a few photobooks from the 70s and 80s. They were extremely rare, they needed to be on my bookshelf. After mingling around, I had an opportunity to take photographs of ordinary things at the event, mostly candid shots of people looking and searching for books. Really, it was a day well-spent.
