Warburton

Always Worth The Trip

Story by Tom Wuthipol Uj February 23rd, 2017

I consider myself as a travel photographer who loves to explore things that are outside the tourist trails. The idea of exploring what (else) a particular place has to offer has always been my travel strategy. Travelling within the inner city is pretty convenient with local public transport, but it is always a challenge when travelling to places where trains and buses don't run very frequently. Warburton is one of those places. If it wasn't for my friend Suzanne, a local photographer who I knew through social media, I wouldn't be so brave travelling to Warburton by public transport all by myself.

The journey takes about two and a half hours from Melbourne city. It is quite amazing how busy it is in the city and how empty it is in Warburton. I actually don't mind the travel, because I know it is always worth the trip. Each time I visit Warburton, Suzanne always takes me around to incredible places to explore the best and most hidden bits of town. The following photographic series is a compilation of photographs taken during my two recent visits to Warburton. It is always intriguing to get out of the city and explore a little township in the Yarra Valley. I just love everything about there, the people, the food, the scenery. It is quite a destination.
